My Ironman Journey for Air Ambulances UK – Join Me

My Story
Why I’m doing this
At the Travel Chapter Spirit Day, we heard a powerful and moving story from Air Ambulances UK about a cyclist whose life was saved because critical care reached him when every second mattered. It was a stark reminder that accidents can happen to any of us, at any time.
As I train for a Full Distance Triathlon (Ironman distances - 3.8km Swim, 180km Bike, 42.2km Run), spending long hours out on the roads, that story really hit home. It made me realise just how vital the Air Ambulances service is - and how easily any one of us, or someone we love, could depend on it.
So, I thought about doing something to help.
I am raising awareness and funds to support Air Ambulances UK and the incredible, life-saving work they do every single day.
Every mile covered and every donation made helps keep this vital service flying.
Let’s make every mile count.
The aim is to raise £999 over 10 weeks - every mile, every session, and every contribution helps support the life-saving work of Air Ambulances UK. This is about consistent effort, coming together as a community, and making a real difference - one session at a time. I've already been training for 20 weeks and to keep me company over the final 10 weeks of my training, I’m inviting friends, family, and colleagues to join me - whether virtually or in person - for training swims, bike rides, and runs as I build up to race day on 26th July 2026.
How to get involved
- Each week, I’ll share my training schedule on WorkVivo, the Travel Chapter Strava Clubs (swimming, cycling, running) and the SO STKD Strava Club.
- You can join any session - either at the same time as me, in person (DM me on Strava or Teams to find out where!), or at a time that suits you.
- Join me for the entire workout or as much of the session as you can manage

- After completing a session, post a screenshot of your activity to WorkVivo, the relevant Travel Chapter Strava Club or the SO STKD Strava Club.
- Tag your activity with the session name e.g. AAUK-Wk21Swim
- Use hashtags #MilesForMissions #SwimBikeRun #TCSpiritDay #TCSportsClub
Extra motivation
Don't worry - Treadmills, Turbo Trainers, Indoor Bikes, Mountain/Gravel/Penny Farthing Bikes, Open Water or Pool Swimming - they all count!
The person who completes the most sessions over the 10 weeks will win a prize (Amazon voucher) recognising your incredible commitment and effort.
If this story resonates with you, I’d love for you to get involved - whether that’s joining a session, cheering me on, or donating what you can.
Really thankful for your support,
Anil
